Evon Chan is a Regional Regulatory Affairs Adviser at EAS Strategic Advice Pte Ltd in Singapore. Ms Chan is a food technologist and has Bachelor degree in food science and nutrition from UCSI University, Malaysia. Prior to joining EAS she had been working in research and development for the food industry. Ms Chan has extensive experience in new product development, nutrition analysis and food quality control/quality assurance.
Wai Mun Poon, Regional Regulatory Affairs Manager, EAS
Wai Mun Poon is the Regional Regulatory Affairs Manager, EAS Strategic Advice Pte Ltd in Singapore, specialising in regulatory affairs for health supplements in a regional capacity. Over the last 10 years she has actively worked on product registration ranging from pharmaceuticals to nutritional supplements, as well as regulatory strategy planning for product development. Ms Poon manages the Secretariat of ASEAN Technical Scientific Committee for Traditional Medicine and Health Supplements. She is a biotechnologist and graduated with a M.Sc. in Biopharmaceutical from the University of New South Wales.
Pensri Jatuniratisai, Vice President, Health Foods and Supplements Association (HFSA), Thailand
Khun Pensri is the Vice President of the Health Foods and Supplements Association (HFSA), Thailand, and has been working in regulatory affairs for over 35 years, of which 15 with Bristol-Myers Squibb and over 20 with DKSK-Consumer Goods in Thailand. Ms Pensri works proactively with the Thai FDA and 30 authorities in 10 Ministries. She also has experience dealing with 114 factories in 31 countries and has contributed to the registration of over 3,000 products in Thailand, many of which are dietary supplements. Ms Pensri graduated as a pharmacist from Chulalongkorn University; obtained miniMBA Certificate from Thammasart University, and has a Master degree in Translation from Ramkhamhaeng University.
Thach Do, Director of External Affairs, Vietnam Association of Dietary SupplementsThach Do is the Director of External Affairs for Vietnam Association of Dietary Supplements (VADS), spearheading the efforts of the Vietnamese Dietary Supplements industry towards effective participation in the ASEAN harmonisation process. Mr Do holds a Masters degree in international business from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He is also the Deputy General Director of International Medical Consultants (IMC) Company Limited, a premier manufacturer of dietary supplements in Vietnam.
Kaori Nakajima, Assistant Manager Overseas Business Department, The Nisshin OilliO Group, Ltd.Kaori is the Assistant Manager of the Overseas Business Department of the Nisshin OilliO Group, Ltd., a leading oils and meals manufacturing and sales company. Ms Nakajima spent just under 10 years with the Japan Health Food & Nutrition Food Association (JHNFA) where she was in charge of scientific and regulatory affairs, public relations, foreign affairs and correspondence, dietary supplement standards, and membership affairs. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in French and Linguistics from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.) in 1983.
Hae Rang Chung, President and Founder, Nutrition for the Future, Inc
Dr Hae-Rang Chung R.D. is the President of Nutrition for the Future Inc., and serves as an adjunct professor of the Department of Food and Nutrition at Ewha Womens University in South Korea. Dr Chung previously worked as a senior research scientist for over twenty years at the quasi-governmental institute, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and has held leadership positions on many committees and advisory groups at governmental agencies and associations. She is currently a member of Korea’s FDA Committee of Safety Assessment on Genetically Modified Organisms. Dr Chung graduated with a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition from Ewha Women's University, where she also earned a master and Ph.D degree in Nutritional Sciences.
Ivan Wasserman, Partner, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP
Mr. Wasserman is a Partner at the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. He focuses on the legal and regulatory aspects of marketing foods, dietary supplements and cosmetics. His experience with advertising and labeling of these products, which are subject to overlapping jurisdiction of the FDA and FTC, helps clients develop creative approaches to meeting marketing objectives while staying within applicable regulatory frameworks. He has written articles for multiple industry publications and is a frequent and engaging speaker at industry workshops and events. He been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America from 2007 - 2010.
